On behalf of the Armstrong County YMCA, I am writing to you about our Strong Kids, Strong Families, and Strong Communities Campaign. Each year we ask area businesses and residents to take the time to think about those in our community who are touched by the mission of the YMCA. Whether it is those families who are financially disadvantaged, local latch key youth, arthritis stricken seniors, or mentally and physically handicapped youth and adults, the YMCA provides scholarships and subsidized programs that add to these individuals quality of life.

In the past, grants by foundations and governmental agencies have provided a large portion of these subsidized dollars. Due to this year’s economic conditions, we have suffered significant cutbacks in this funding. Unfortunately, the effect of this decreased funding is compounded by an increase in the financial needs within our community.

At the same time this is happening, we have continued to face building maintenance issues, some of which could have long-range safety issues. We desperately need the financial support of our community. As I stated before, I am writing to you about this year's campaign. I am asking you for your support. Our goal is to raise enough money during the next three months to impact not only the scholarship and subsidy goal, but also to have dollars to begin addressing our repair issues. Your tax-deductible gift can be either designated to a specific program or be part of our general campaign fund. Your community will appreciate any gift you can give.
