New YMCA Facilities Updates

Dear Member,

The Armstrong County YMCA Board of Directors has assessed the needs of the community and has authorized a Capital Project Committee to move forward with new facility development.
The Y’s recently completed Market Studies tested three potential sites with the community for new Y facilities. The results clearly recommend that building a new YMCA in West Hills -Wible Road- offers the greatest opportunity to meet community needs and generate necessary income to sustain a facility. Wible Road is the busiest road in East Franklin Township and runs between Butler Road and Franklin Village Mall in West Kittanning. We are making appropriate contacts concerning the property.
It’s important to understand the committee is investigating the site as a potential location for new Y facilities; no final determination has been made. We are simply doing our ‘due diligence’ in researching the preferred site identified by the community for new Y facilities.
The Capital Project Committee has also been empowered to:
  • determine the facility and site requirements
  • determine the capital development project costs and preliminary campaign goal
  • develop a pro forma budget for new facilities
  • finalize the overall capital project plan and timeline
We have not made a community statement concerning our plans as we wanted to make sure our members were aware of the Y’s progress first. A public announcement is being planned very soon after appropriate inquires concerning the potential property are made.
This is a very exciting time for your Y and the community. We are moving forward in a very timely manner and will keep you updated as the committee completes the above work. You may also follow our progress by visiting our web site (www.armstrongymca.org).
On behalf of the YMCA’s Board of Directors and staff we thank you for your continued support as we move forward.

Sincerely,

Richard Snyder
